Young Playwrights Map

At the start of his doctoral study, Jim explored the history and development of young playwrights programming in the United States. For almost 40 years, students 19 years old and younger have enjoyed a variety of local, regional, and national contests, festivals, and workshops designed specifically to encourage and produce their written work for the stage. Keeping up with the variety of opportunities, and the pace at which new programs emerge, has proven difficult. This map is an attempt to organize those programs into one central, interactive resource.
This map contains programs for young playwrights in the United States, split into Regional (Red) and National (Blue) opportunities. Click on each marker to access submission information, deadlines, and contact information as provided by an organization's, or program's, website. You may need to zoom in to a see all of the programs in your area. Some cities have more than one progam!
If any administrators of the listed programs, or those currently not listed, are encouraged to contact Jim for a survey form that will collect the necessary information to amend the map.
